YOUR SKIN TYPE

Do you know what type of skin you have? Dehydrated or dry skin? What is the difference?

When we talk about skin type, we refer to the characteristics that our skin has, which have been given to us by genetics. Simplifying, we would say that they are the "fixed" characteristics of our skin and there are 4 types of skin: dry, oily, mixed and normal. Each type of skin has a series of characteristics:

• Dry: lack of sebum, tightness, rough skin, fine lines of expression. (we are not talking about mature skin)
• Oily: excess sebum, impurities, large pores, shine.
• Mixed: presents excess sebum in the T zone (forehead, nose and chin), normal or dry cheeks.
• Normal: If it is yours, you are very lucky! It is balanced, with small pores, soft with a velvety texture. An awfully marvel!

When we talk about dehydrated, sensitive, irritated skin, wrinkles, among others, we are talking about the condition or state of the skin. The condition or state of the skin is something that occurs for a certain time and due to different factors, such as diet, pollution, temperature change, hormonal changes, lifestyle habits, etc.The most widespread skin conditions are:

• Acne

• Dehydration

• Sensitivity

• Pigmentation (spots)

Is it possible to have oily or combination dehydrated skin and have dry but hydrated skin? How do I differentiate one from another? Dry skin is usually red and flaky, while dehydrated skin usually appears dull.

Dry skin over time, if it is not nourished well, ends up dehydrated, as the lipid barrier that retains water in the skin is not maintained. If you have dry skin and you do not nourish it in addition to hydrating it, small wrinkles will appear, before time.If you have oily skin, it is important that you hydrate it and balance the sebum levels necessary to retain water.

All skin types throughout life undergo changes and not only due to natural aging, stress and other factors mentioned above can influence their  appearance.

Whatever your skin type and condition, it is essential to have good lifestyle habits and a good beauty routine: cleaning, hydration, nutrition and protection. Use suitable cosmetic products, preferably natural, toxic-free and effective products.
